ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:It is particularly important to establish an ideal animal model of pulmonary fibrosis to investigate the underlying pathogenesis and screen effective drugs to prevent and control pulmonary fibrosis. OBJECTIVE: To establish a modified scheme of establishing mouse models that can reflect pulmonary fibrosis formation in humans. METHODS: Fifty-six male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into two groups: A (a single large-dose injection) and B (multiple smal-dose injections). Mice in group A were subjected to a single intravenous injection of bleomycin 200 mg/kgviathe tail vein; and mice in group B received intravenous injections of bleomycin 50 mg/kg via the tail vein per week, totaly for 6 weeks.

ABSTRACT

Objective To illustrate the different levels of fundamental nursing skills of undergradu ate nursing students, and explore the characteristics of the assessment method. Methods With descriptive statistics,one-way analysis of variance after rank transformation, and multiple comparison (Scheffe),we made an analysis of 1 340 assessment records of fundamental nursing skills. Results The score distributions of all the skills, but the skill of measuring vital signs, conformed to Gaussian distribution. The overall distribution shaped in peak state and was negative skewness, showing bias towards 70 to 90 score levels. The score levels of 60 and 70 were significantly higher than that of their surrounding levels. The scores of aspiration of sputum, oxygenic therapy and aseptic technique were the lowest, while the scores of closed bed making and intramuscular injection were the highest. Conclusions The score distribution of fundamental nursing skills is rational, which shows the methods of teaching and assessment are generally believable. But the individual bias cannot be ignored. The majority of students get high grades.Different levels do exist among different skills because of abstract or concrete characteristics and principal matters.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish a scientific and normative process for using physical restraint, and to increase the safety and efficiency of physical restraint. Methods On the basis of the previous studies, combined with the literature and clinical,we drafted a process framework of using physical restraint and then conducted consultation from 11 experts by using the Delphi technique. Results After 2 rounds of consulting,an evaluation form, consisted of 4 first-dimensions and 11 second-dimensions,and a process, consisted of 4 first-dimensions and 26 second-dimensions,were established.Kendall's W were 0.37 and 0.38 respectively, and expert authority coefficient was 0.84.Conclusions The results from the study is valid, feasible and reliable, however it still need to be further perfected.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the clinical feature of chronic pain of aged people and strategies and effect of its self-management as well as their relationship. Methods Investigation with questionnaires wag carried out in 243 aged people who were above 65 years old to understand the clinical feature of chronic pain and strategies of its self-management.The results underwent analysis. Results Non-narcotic analgesics, physical exercise, cold and heat therapy and spiritual activity were used most frequently in selfmanagement of pain.No statistical difference existed in the use of self-management strategies between people in different age groups.Effect of self-management strategies was negatively correlated with degree of pain, interrupting with daily life and anxiety, but Wag positively correlated with self-efficacy score. Conclusions Aged people ale willing to attemp various strategies to cope with chronic pain.We should pain attention to the standardization of physical exercise, confrontation of anxiety and improvement of self-efficacy to improve the effect of self-management.
